Paolo Andrea Deandrea, born in Milan, journalist and cartoonist, paints “Le Moschine” a small world that recalls the styles of American cartoons of the 20s and 30s with a mix of surreal, cheerful, grotesque and intimately melancholic feelings, transporting us into a farcical and tragicomic world.
“Le Moschine” is a series of acrylic color paintings and pastels on canvas and wood, inspired by the style of American cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s.
The Weightlifter Moschina has become the logo of the series. The leopard-print leotard and the fez are a tribute to Lothar, Mandrake the Magician’s strongman sidekick, the star of a series of American comics from the 1930s, very popular in Italy as well.
