El Dia de los Muertos is the Mexican Day of the Dead: it celebrates that special and unique day of the year when the world of the living meets, on Earth, with that of the dead. While Halloween represents a threatening afterlife populated by evil spirits, zombies, vampires, and witches, el Dia de los Muertos celebrates the dead with joy, friendliness, and nostalgia; with the pleasure of being together again, even if only for a day.

The Mortini series is animated by this spirit. The Mortini are not scary, macabre, or gloomy. On the contrary, they are cheerful, curious, mischievous, sometimes melancholic.
